This week’s gospel reading is the Transfiguration story (Luke 9:28-36). The story is richly layered with meaning and one lens to guide our interpretation comes from an ancient Christian notion of the polymorphy of Jesus: Jesus appears to us in a form we can comprehend even as it stretches our faith.
